Poncho is a very small grey dun miniature donkey who has lived all of his life with his buddy, Micky. They have never been separated. They are half-brothers and have been friends for life. Poncho and Micky look very much alike, but the back of Poncho’s ears are dark brown. Sometimes they’re very hard to tell apart. Poncho is now in his mid-thirties and lives at the Sanctuary’s Hee Haw Hideaway barn with Micky, Sasha, and Scarlett (also lifelong herd mates) and two newer friends Moses and Lili. This is a close-knit group of miniature Sicilian donkeys (except for Sasha who is a larger spotted mini). They live and play together, rarely argue and enjoy life to the fullest!
Poncho has taught many children about miniature donkeys and is quite talented! He can bow, shake hooves, negotiate a trail course, and will lie down and play dead! He is also quite a character! He is always willing to be groomed or dressed up, loves his blankets and greeting visitors for treats and being petted. He loves snoozing in the sun and was quite a hit as “The Cat in the Hat” at our Halloween celebration!
