Meet award winning author L.M. Elliott and enjoy the beautiful views and inspiring mission of The Sanctuary at Red Bell Run at this family friendly event. Elliott will host a book talk followed by a brief reading, Q&A, and signing of her new book, Bea and the New Deal Horse. We will have Hobby Horse, yard games, coloring stations, and some of our rescued equines out to be loved on! Proceeds of each book sold will benefit Red Bell Run and help us perpetuate our lifesaving mission to rescue abused, neglected or at risk equines and other animals, offering rehabilitation and permanent placement including lifelong sanctuary.
Bea and the New Deal Horse is a Depression-era tale about the spirit of American persistence, the magical partnership between girl and horse, and the power of hope…
About L.M. Elliott – A longtime Washington D.C. magazine journalist before becoming a New York Times bestselling author, L.M. Elliott has written thirteen historical and biographical novels for teens, including Louisa June and the Nazis in the Waves; Under a War-torn Sky; WALLS; and Hamilton and Peggy!. Her works have been named NCSS/CBC Notables, Bank Street College of Ed. Best Books, Kirkus Best YA, Jefferson Cup Historical Fiction Honor Books, and Grateful American Book Prize Winners. Elliott experienced the extraordinary symbiosis possible between horse and rider as a mother watching her daughter and her USPC and USEA compatriots train their eventers and jumpers. She’s merely a “pleasure rider,” but became a happy mom-volunteer rally coordinator and trailer-driver. Learn more about her at www.lmelliott.com or follow her on twitter and Instagram @L_M_Elliott
